The Prosecutorial College of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) left without consideration the request of the acting Minister of Justice Andrey Yankulov to replace the acting Minister of Justice. Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov.
The reasons are that the minister does not have the right to make such a request, because it is not about the titular, but about the acting prosecutor.
At the beginning of the month, the plenum of personnel officers transferred the case to the relevant board after a six-hour meeting.
"My opinion is that there must be a ruling on the merits in order to end this severe crisis of the rule of law", the acting Minister of Justice and Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Yankulov told the media before a meeting of the Prosecutorial Board of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
According to Yankulov, the behavior of the board so far shows an unwillingness to deal with this issue and as a result
Borislav Sarafov has been acting prosecutor general for almost three years now without any clarity on when this temporary mandate will end.
Let's see How will the prosecutor's office approach and whether it will even consider my proposal, Yankulov added.
In connection with the information released yesterday by the prosecutor's office about the Bulgarian European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva, the minister stated that the information contains a statement signed by an anonymous prosecutor, that there is a reasonable assumption that the Bulgarian European Prosecutor has committed a crime and that this has been left without consequence by the Bulgarian prosecutor's office so far.
