A protest against the reappointment of the head of the ODMVR-Plovdiv Vasil Kostadinov is taking place tonight in front of the Ministry of Interior building in Sofia.
The event was organized by Atanaska Bakalova - the mother of Dimitar Malinov from the Plovdiv village of Tsalapitsa, who was murdered in 2023. Nikolay Popov, the father of 12-year-old Siyana, who died in a car accident, also joined the discontent.
In addition to Kostadinov's removal from office, the protesters' demands are for justice and life imprisonment for Mitko's murderers.
Later, the acting Minister of Interior Emil Dechev received some of the protesters in his office.
We recall that Vasil Kostadinov was removed from office in 2023 after tension surrounding the investigation of the brutal murder in Tsalapitsa and reappointed after the caretaker government took office.
