“It is inexplicable to us why political parties that claim to be in opposition and who came to protest with us against the government of GERB, MRF, BSP and ITN are currently supporting their budget“ – this was commented on the sidelines of the parliament by the leader of “Vazrazhdane“ Kostadin Kostadinov.
According to him, all political parties except "Vazrazhdane" have supported the law on the extension of the budget of GERB, DPS, BSP, “There is such a people“.
“PP-DB, even when the budget was being voted on last year, supported the majority of its statements, as did MECH and “Velicie“, among others. We see once again the political unprincipledness of all political forces in parliament without “Vazrazhdane“. We had a clear and principled position against this budget even when it was adopted. We did not approve the inclusion of nearly 19 billion leva in it as new debt, we did not approve the lowering of the VAT threshold, we did not approve all the other artificially inflated revenues that had a single whole – to reduce the deficit ex officio in order to meet the Maastricht criteria requirement of a maximum 3% deficit“, Kostadinov pointed out.
He recalled that the Ministry of Finance has admitted that the budget has a larger deficit than planned, that is, 3.1%, and “due to the extension of the budget, there was a suspension of drawing new loans, and now, in practice, hands are being untied to further pump up Bulgarian public finances“. According to Kostadinov, the only way to stabilize public finances to some extent at the moment is to draw new loans.
