“Peevski governs GERB with Facebook statuses. The example with the Board for Peace is another one. This Board looks like a private initiative with a lifetime chairman, Donald Trump. Before Rosen Zhelyazkov went to Davos, the government had a clear pro-European position. Suddenly, a Facebook status by Peevski appeared and the prime minister quickly took off to sign Bulgaria's accession to the Board for Peace. The official position of our country was that ratification would be the task of the next parliament. Now GERB, which first said that Bulgaria should not be part of the Board for Peace, has abruptly changed its position. This happened again after Peevski's status.“ This was stated by the co-chairman of “Yes, Bulgaria“ Ivaylo Mirchev in “Week 150“ on BNR.
According to Mirchev, the parliament must adopt the government's proposed extension of the budget law, as well as the cabinet's expected proposal for compensation for high fuel prices. There is no legitimate governing majority in parliament. There is a majority that was overthrown precisely because of its inability to form a budget policy.
„This is the right approach, because in a situation of an election campaign, political forces are tempted to bid, and Bulgaria is already a record holder in accumulating debt. Additional money should be received by those who really need it. That is why we were the first to propose that the most vulnerable be compensated, and the money for this should come from the increased revenues from VAT on fuels. The amount of these compensations should be decided by the Minister of Finance and the government,“ said Mirchev.
Mirchev also commented on the upcoming finalization of the PP-DB candidate lists for the elections on April 19. According to him, there is no doubt that PP and DB will run together in the elections, and Yavor Bozhankov would be useful in the next National Assembly and has proven it with his oratorical skills and defense of specific priorities.
„Yavor Bozhankov has nominations for the lists made by our local organizations. This obliges us to consider these nominations. Before elections, there are always debates about what the lists and candidates should look like. Talks in the coalition continue.“
„Political formations are the expression of the hopes of their voters. Our commitment is to respond to the hundreds of thousands of people who took to the squares of Bulgaria at the end of 2025. People demanded the dismantling of the criminal Borisov-Peevski model. We are an instrument for the realization of this. No less important, the only political force that insists that Bulgaria should be turned towards Europe is PP-DB,“ added Mirchev.
According to the leader of “Yes, Bulgaria“ parties should not rely on selfishness, ultimatums or party quotas, but should try to field the strongest candidates. So that when people go to vote for their representation, they can recognize their principles in one or another candidate. Voters understand very easily when lists are not organic and when, for example, the second, third and fourth in a list collect many times fewer preferences than the tenth.
