The first political force is not Rumen Radev, but the people who will vote, but have not decided for whom.
This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Asen Vassilev, leader of the PP, part of the PP-DB coalition.
"The question is that they have a free choice - to do it, and not for someone to threaten them, to be aware of what they are voting for and who is ready to take the blows in order to carry out the battle".
Vassilev noted that he did not arrange the PP-DB lists.
"Different parties nominate candidates for certain places. The way in which they are arranged in the lists is described in our statute and is respected down to the last comma. Our regional organizations nominate candidates. Then the National Council approves the lists.
I think the lists are quite strong. They make a clear request to include people from the protest. We also have those submitted by the Union of the Blind and the Union of the Disabled. Two leaders are from the Muslim community.
It is the decision of "Democratic Bulgaria" who will be the leader of the list, explained the leader of the PP.
"The case with Yavor Bojankov has been a decision of our National Council since January. I am very glad that my colleagues from "Democratic Bulgaria" respected it.
Assen Vassilev called "lies" the allegations that he personally ordered Bozhankov not to be included in the lists.
The PP leader also believes that "these elections are a unique chance for the first time that GERB and "New Beginning" will have under 80 deputies since 2009"
"There must be 160 votes with which to elect a new Supreme Judicial Council, a new Inspectorate to the Supreme Judicial Council and to eliminate corruption once and for all.
We propose a Protocol for the Elimination of Corruption, which has very specific steps".
We are not negotiating with Rumen Radev, Vassilev also pointed out.
"I have not spoken to Mr. Radev since 2022, probably. Let's see the program. I saw the lists in Haskovo. I have strong doubts that some of the deputies who will enter would press the button to eliminate corruption".
The government belongs to Mr. Gyurov, the leader of the PP reminded.
"We cannot influence him in any way. There is a finance minister, it is absurd for me to start interfering".
