A truck with textiles burned down at the border checkpoint “Kapitan Andreevo“, with the fire affecting another truck and a customs building with expensive equipment, Nova TV reported.
The incident was reported at around 9:20 this morning, reported the head of the Regional Service “Fire Safety and Population Protection“ in Svilengrad Ivelin Tonev.
Two teams of firefighters arrived at the scene. Despite their efforts, the trailer with the cargo and the tractor were completely burned out. The truck driver suffered minor burns and refused to be hospitalized. According to initial data, the cause of the fire was a gas cylinder in the driver's cabin, from which propane-butane leaked and caught fire.
The flames spread to another truck waiting to be processed at the checkpoint, but it was extinguished before the fire spread. The nearby customs inspection building was also affected and damaged. It houses expensive X-ray cargo scanning equipment, which was salvaged.
