Gyurov to the Heads of Missions of EU Countries: Bulgaria Guarantees a Fair and Transparent Vote - 1

Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov met with the Heads of Missions of the European Union (EU) countries at the invitation of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, the Council of Ministers announced on its Facebook page.

Gyurov introduced them to the work of the caretaker government on the holding of the early elections on April 19. He emphasized that ensuring a fair and transparent vote is a top priority of the caretaker government. A policy of “zero tolerance” is being applied to election violations, so that every Bulgarian citizen can be confident that his vote will be counted legally, the Prime Minister said.

In his speech, he also highlighted the actions taken to restore legality in the prosecutor's office and limit practices related to “parallel justice“, in order to establish a transparent and independent judicial system. Gyurov noted that the National Assembly has adopted the extended budget, and the government is already working on the framework for the 2026 budget.

The events in the Middle East and their impact on Bulgaria were also a topic of conversation. The government had to act quickly to introduce measures to mitigate the impact of rising world prices, which are also reflected in the Bulgarian market, the Prime Minister pointed out.

The meeting also discussed the main topics from the agenda of the last meeting of the European Council, both for the Middle East and Ukraine and the possible risk of increased migratory pressure. The Prime Minister thanked Ambassador Kafkaridis for the meeting and confirmed Bulgaria's role as a stable and reliable partner in Europe.

Yesterday, the Council of Ministers held a briefing after the first meeting of the Coordination Council for the Preparation of the Elections, at which up-to-date information was provided on the work of the institutions in relation to the electoral violations and the preparation for the early voting on April 19 in the country and abroad.
