AIKB: A clear package of measures is needed, not symbolic compensations - 1

The Social Assistance Agency has published information about the application under the Program for Compensation of Individuals for Increased Fuel Prices after the Outbreak of the Conflict in the Middle East.

"This measure with 20 euros of compensation is nice, I perceive it as a wish to calm people. Since the beginning of the month, we have suffered major escalations in the price of oil and natural gas. With all these movements up and down, Brent is up by about 40-42% compared to the levels before the war in Iran. Regarding Bulgaria - we are among the countries in the EU with the lowest state taxes on the price of the final product," said the chairman of the Board of the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria (AIKB) Rumen Radev in the studio of "The Day ON AIR".

He emphasized that the refinery always claims to be a trade secret for processing costs.

"The markup, which should be in the final price of fuels, should rather be in the range of 16 to 20%. Today we have an increase of one euro cent in the average price of both diesel and gasoline. For diesel, we have about a 24% increase to date and about 15% for gasoline. This is reaching this threshold. Currently, the markets are very sensitive to any statements, moods, expectations", Radev added on the air of Bulgaria ON AIR.

The Americans produce between 13-14 million barrels per day.

"The exports that the US has are somewhere around almost 4 million barrels per day of the quantity they produce. The markets are not looking for speculation, they are looking for calm. Stability is what they need. And with regard to the government and its measures towards the socially vulnerable, these people would be concerned with completely different problems - using public transport, much more susceptible to food products. I would suggest measures that would support this process", the guest emphasized.

"When we say that a package of measures should be developed and announced in advance, the idea of this is prevention - for business to know that there is insurance. We rely a little on the wisdom of the EU. We are not learning our lesson in another direction - electricity prices for business continue to be extremely dynamic. In January, we met it with almost 140 euros per megawatt hour. In February, we had a retreat. Now we are just under 103 euros", explained the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Bulgarian Electricity Producers.

According to him, Bulgaria is currently focusing on energy storage systems energy.

"There is a significant need for basic production of renewable energy. But it is also important at what price. If we as a country manage to manage the projects for the new capacities at the "Kozloduy" NPP qualitatively, it is definitely worth it. But if we are corrupt and incompetent, this will lead to an increase in the price," added Rumen Radev.
