Second attempt to start the case against the former deputy mayor of Sofia Nikola Barbutov, businessman Petar Rafailov and two former municipal employees.
In mid-February, the trial did not start, as it turned out that the lawyer of one of the defendants did not receive the papers on time, Nova TV reports. Nikola Barbutov is accused of participating in an organized crime group and committing a crime in office by accepting bribes.
According to the prosecutor's office, he wanted the district mayors of "Lyulin" and "Mladost" to return 6% of the value of public procurements to him, and in return he would provide them with "the right" evaluators for the projects. Barbutov's defense described the case as "political".
