Ivan Anchev: We will arrest Vasil Mihaylov as soon as possible - 1

There was no action by the General Directorate of the Police to detain Vasil Mihaylov.

"The person will be arrested as soon as possible. With his latest act, he shows a dangerous relapse, that he is a public danger and should not be at large. There are not many cameras in the Pernik village, he could be anywhere. But very soon we will read that the person has been detained," said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Anchev in the program "Denyat ON AIR".

The guest denied that Mihaylov had tried to set fire to the house of the police officer from the Directorate of Internal Affairs, whom he attacked together with other people.

Anchev pointed out that some political parties are manipulating, through which they want to neglect the role of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as an impartial arbitrator in relation to civil processes and people's electoral rights.

"There is a series of manipulations, but I would not say that they have shaken us. Currently, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the punching bag in this government," the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told Bulgaria ON AIR. "The signals as of 5 p.m. today are 567. Proceedings have been initiated for 176 of them. There is a 9-fold increase in the number of signals. Today alone, we have received more signals than in the entire 30-day period in 2024. Society clearly trusts what we are doing," Anchev emphasized.

He explained that some of the signals are not confirmed, and 92 people have been arrested so far. We are not interested in political power, but in the criminal act, Ganiela Angelova's guest pointed out. "We have created a very strict system for submitting signals. 112 employees enter them into a specialized system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and make their way to the SDVR and the relevant regional directorates," Anchev explained.

"Our goal is to prevent vote buying itself. If the knot unravels and goes from tens to hundreds, to larger guarantors, this is a matter of the judicial search itself. We must turn to the prosecutor's colleagues and the judicial magistrates. We are working well with the prosecutor's office," the source added. The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs pointed out that a huge amount of preparation is being made for election day.

"On April 20, the result will be clear whether we have succeeded. The elections cannot be completely fair. If we manage to keep the bought vote to an acceptable minimum, then we will have succeeded", Anchev believes. "It saddens me to talk about the price of one vote. Once upon a time, there were two kebab shops in the neighborhood. Now they are talking about different amounts. When someone decides to sell their vote in this ugly way, they should think that they can be paid with fake euros. Sometimes the price is expressed in the changes in stores or the forgiveness of a quick loan. The vote has become more expensive", Anchev commented. According to him, in poorer communities, religious leaders are also used to manipulate citizens' votes. Anchev admitted that most likely a chief of a regional police department will be replaced. This is the right of the Minister of Internal Affairs - to decide who to work with, he argued.

"All replaced regional directors of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have not been thrown into the trash. We are making plans on how their capacity will be used. It is not a drama to restore them, but we want to ensure fair elections with people we trust", the deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also stated. Anchev insisted that the seized fake 1.2 million euros were intercepted by the Directorate of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counterfeiting Investigation Department, which is working more and more actively.

"I will not seek a confrontation with Daniel Mitov and go into details about when the information was received and when work on it actually began... About a month ago, and the information was available about a year ago," he announced.
