Boyko Noev: There should be no divisive debates about national security - 1

National security is a topic on which there should be agreement, there should be no divisive debates. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Boyko Noev, one of the six former defense ministers who publicly supported the decision of Andrey Gyurov's caretaker cabinet to sign a ten-year agreement with Kiev.

"This requires responsible behavior. There are many other topics on which to draw daggers and use harsh words. When it comes to defense and security, there is enough common ground to seek agreement and national consensus," he added.

In his words, Bulgaria is not giving, but receiving from this agreement.

According to him, the authorities should talk to each other and the caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gyurov should have informed the president, including the reasons why the government intends to make this important political move:

"And I am sure that President Yotova would hardly have objected".

The appeal of the six former defense ministers of Bulgaria emphasizes that even at the beginning of the aggression against Ukraine, the Bulgarian people and state supported the country with a number of decisions: "There is one topic on which there should be no differences, but nevertheless there are nuances in the Bulgarian political debate, this is the topic of war and peace, which was particularly exposed in connection with Putin's aggression against Ukraine. The interpretation of what peace is and how to achieve it. ... When talking about unconditional peace, it is understood that peace means the capitulation of Ukraine. When the call to stop the aggression has a second part of the phrase - and the restoration of peace - then this would sound correct both morally and politically".

There is no case in history when aggression has ended in victory in the long term and my prediction is that Ukraine will restore its integrity, whatever happens, he emphasized.

In connection with the diplomatic note from Iran, which became an occasion for debates in parliament and for questions and reproaches to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Boyko Noev stated categorically that it does not contain any threat to Bulgaria: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this, but they have other work to do, and where is the Chief of Defense? He should come out and calm the people. In such conditions of war and crisis, someone in the military, someone in uniform, should come out to calm the citizens. But they are not there, they are just lurking. That's why this job has fallen to us - as former defense ministers to explain".

He recommended that the government pay attention to public relations and make a remark to those whose responsibility it is to explain these problems to citizens.

According to Noev, Trump cannot withdraw the US from NATO, but he is scaring people with it.
