Over 6.5 tons of food have been sent for destruction, and part of the activities of a meat production and processing company have been stopped due to violations at several sites of the same company in the Dryanovo village of Sokolovo. Inspectors of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency have found food stored at inappropriate temperatures and without labels in Bulgarian, products with damaged packaging, as well as poor hygienic and technical condition of premises and equipment.

In one of the company's sites, significant quantities of food of animal origin were found, which were without mandatory identification markings, including nearly 3 tons of pig heads, veal, lamb products and salted intestines in cans. According to the BFSA, the traceability of food cannot be guaranteed, and this creates a risk to the health of consumers. A total of 6596.9 kg. of food will be destroyed.

The inspection revealed serious problems with the building stock and equipment. Mold was found on ceilings and walls, corroded doors, and rusty technological equipment in cold storage rooms. In some production rooms, the wall coverings were peeling, and the floor-wall corners were in an unsatisfactory hygienic condition. For these reasons, part of the activity was suspended.

Violations were also found in the other inspected facilities of the same company - a dairy processing plant, an imitation products plant, a refrigerated warehouse and a wholesale warehouse. These include non-use of premises for their intended purpose, disrupted production flow, incomplete or inaccurate keeping of technological logs, as well as discrepancies between the actually applied technological processes and the approved documentation. Dairy and imitation products without identification markings were found in refrigerated warehouses, as well as moldy cheese that had not been separated and sent for destruction, as required by law.

Additional administrative actions are planned for all facilities, including issuing prescriptions with deadlines for eliminating non-conformities and subsequent control over their implementation.
