BSP-OL before BAMI: A developing industry is the basis for any social policy - 1

„Bulgarian industry is the backbone of the economy and we must provide the best possible conditions for its development.”. This was stated by Sergey Stanishev, member of the Executive Bureau of the BSP, before the Bulgarian Association of the Metallurgical Industry (BAMI).

During the meeting, the difficulties facing the sector were discussed, including international conflicts and the price of electricity, the administrative burden for business, the human resource potential and the problems in implementing the circular economy in Bulgaria. Emphasis was placed on the need for reindustrialization in a European plan.

BSP MEP Tsvetelina Penkova emphasized the importance of the voice of Bulgarian industry being heard at the European level. “This direct connection is so important in order to be able to create legislative norms that are of help, not a burden to enterprises.”, she emphasized.

The leader of the “BSP-UNITED LEFT” list in the 23rd MIR – Sofia Gabriel Valkov emphasized the political instability: “The early elections, the extended budgets had a negative impact on the economy and the social sphere. We cannot develop normally in this way. We need to form a sustainable government.”.

According to him, industry is the basis on which every social policy is based. “We have a common direction in which to move together.”, assured Valkov.

The meeting also discussed the national strategy for industrial development, the possibilities for compensation for energy-intensive enterprises and the European vision for reindustrialization.

In conclusion, an agreement was reached for follow-up meetings to seek working solutions for Bulgarian industry.
