According to unofficial information from people close to the Dobrich Regional Directorate of Internal Affairs, a specialized police operation was conducted today on the territory of Dobrich, Balchik and Kavarna. The main goal of the operation is to prevent vote buying in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
According to sources from the Dobrich Regional Directorate of Internal Affairs, among the suspects are Iliyan S., Plamen Y., Hristiyan I. and Emilian Y. As part of the operation, searches were carried out in the “Korona“ restaurant in Balchik, as well as in other commercial establishments owned or connected to Iliyan S. and his wife.
Iliyan S. is cited as the alleged ringleader of a group engaged in vote buying, extortion and racketeering. Among the evidence found during the searches are significant amounts of cash and lists, the contents of which have not yet been clarified.
According to historical data from other media, Iliyan S. is known for his close ties to the mayor of Kavarna, Elena Baltadzhieva.
In 2021, he was involved in a scandal related to beating and racketeering, and in 2024 he was investigated for an attack on the mayor of Belgun. Official information from the police is expected.
