Writer Zdravka Evtimova: Woe to those who feel envy and jealousy - 1

On Good Friday, we look inward to confront the dark corners of our soul, our fears, to take stock of our attitude towards ourselves, towards the people we love, but also towards those we do not like. Because the strength of the spirit is also measured by accepting the differences between us and the ability to forgive those who hurt us.

The meaning of self-sacrifice in times of trial, faith and love for one's neighbor in the most difficult hours before the Resurrection of Christ is commented on in the program “This Morning“ by writer and translator Zdravka Evtimova.

“When a person betrays someone, he has first betrayed the strongest in himself. He betrayed goodness and the hope to live honorably, to be human“, she believes.

According to her, a person is not born to be a traitor. “That is why sooner or later the traitor feels something gnawing at him. We are all the products of a billion-year evolution, and when someone commits betrayal, they may receive a very high income, a bank account or a position in society, but they wake up at night feeling some pain“.

“This pain is the language of billions of years of human revolution, which says: “You are a traitor. You have ruined the best in yourself. And you have not given this best to your children. You have deprived them of kindness“, shared Evtimova.

In her words, betrayal is primarily towards oneself, towards one's family and towards the country in which one lives.

„Resurrection is a feeling of the dignity and strengths of the people around us. It is the ability to preserve humanity and make it more human. This is extremely difficult. Every day, if we can and have enough strength, we should manage to master the desire to grab more, to press under the spiritual weight of our entire life the greed that seeks to find a way and gnaw at us“, the writer believes.

According to her, there is no more terrible feeling than envy. „But that is why we are human and that is why humanity has existed for so many millennia. And that's why poets sing the praises of those who have given good, who are in love with life, in love with the most true and faithful person“, explained Evtimova.

“Love is the greatest antidote to envy and jealousy, which is also a scorching and crushing feeling. Woe to the people who experience them“, she believes. And she shared that she always prays to God to save her from jealousy, envy and forced loneliness.

“At first glance, in these terrible days, when thousands of people die every day, someone would say that God has turned into a really interesting book, but one that has been thrown away on a dusty shelf. Its pages are covered with a layer of dust. But when we look deep inside ourselves, we understand that this is not the case. The only thing left for us is to turn to this book and understand that we carry God within ourselves“, explained Evtimova.
