The joy of the Resurrection does not cease to this day, said the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniil in his greeting before the service for the Second Resurrection of Christ in the metropolitan cathedral church “St. Great Martyr Nedelya“.
Today the Bulgarian Orthodox Church celebrates Easter - Resurrection of Christ, called the “Feast of Feasts“.
At this festive liturgy, texts from the Gospel are traditionally read in different languages, dedicated to the Resurrection of the Son of God - Jesus Christ. Thus it is recalled that the good news of Christ's Resurrection was carried by the apostles to all nations of the world.
“We rejoice with the extraordinary joy of the resurrection of Jesus Christ“, said Patriarch Daniel.
The Patriarch explained that on this day the relatives and followers of Jesus Christ were frightened, in the dark about what had happened and why Christ's tomb was empty. Then the Lord appeared to them with the words “Rejoice!“. “This joy does not cease to this day“, said the Metropolitan of Sofia.
The Patriarch explained that just as the martyrs lived in the greatest sorrows with the joy of the Resurrection, so too can believers live in this world of sorrows and despair with the joy of the miracle of the Resurrection.
According to the words of Patriarch Daniel, if we do not have peace in our hearts, we cannot have a connection with God in our hearts.
