The vast majority of our compatriots abroad exercised their right to vote in the parliamentary elections on April 19, filling out declarations on the spot in front of the ballot boxes. As many as 81% of voters abroad did not have prior registration, which further delays the election process. This was stated by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Nadezhda Neynski, who reported on the data on the organization of voting abroad.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that the institutions report extremely high interest in voting abroad, which also corresponds to the data on record activity on the territory of the country. Due to the serious influx, it was necessary to extend election day in a number of European countries.

In Turkey, voting continued until 9:00 p.m. in 7 out of a total of 27 polling stations opened. Extended working hours have also been introduced for one polling station in Spain.

"In the UK there were 5 stations with extended working hours, all of them were in London", added Nadezhda Neynski, quoted by BGNES.

According to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the protocols from the United States of America are still being processed. Regarding the organization in countries outside the European Union, the head of our diplomacy was categorical that the department strictly complies with the voted legislation.

She emphasized that the institution applies the Electoral Code exactly as it was adopted by the National Assembly, fully complying with the imposed restrictions of up to 20 sections in countries outside the community.

"We have extremely high activity, but we cannot give you data yet, as the CEC is still processing them", added the minister.

"We expect the CEC to pronounce on the final results when we will see what the distribution is abroad and by party", concluded Nadezhda Neynski.
