Traffic through the Republic Pass is temporarily suspended due to an accident, the press center of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Veliko Tarnovo announced.
At around 7:00 p.m. in the area of the Veliko Tarnovo village of Mishemorkov Han, a Turkish truck left the roadway, hit the elastic fence and fell into a ravine. According to initial information, the driver died. Part of the cargo spilled into one lane. The crashed vehicle is about to be towed.
The bypass route for passenger cars is through the Shipka Pass, and trucks are waiting at the scene. The causes of the accident are in the process of being clarified, and pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
