A specialized team from the Naval Base – Burgas responded to a signal of a suspicious object in the sea in the Sunny Beach area.
The military personnel determined that the discovered object was a starter motor of an air defense missile, which did not pose a danger and was transported to the naval base. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense.
Later on the same day, a specialized team from the Naval Base – Burgas was activated with the task of investigating an area about 150-200 meters from the coastline northeast of Nessebar based on information received at the regional directorate of the Border Police about an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) spotted in the sea. The servicemen began a survey of the area upon arrival at the site in the dark of the day, continuing at 6:30 a.m. today, April 23, with the participation of a Navy cutter. At 10:55 a.m., the cutter's crew discovered and identified the unmanned aerial vehicle, which had a missing nose and no explosive components. The servicemen determined that the drone did not pose a threat and transported it to the Burgas Naval Base.
To carry out these tasks, the Navy servicemen act upon a request from the Burgas Regional Administration, by order of the Chief of Defense and an order from the Commander of the Navy.
