The Commission for the Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property (CONPI) achieved a final legal success in a case for the confiscation of property acquired illegally, worth over 116,000 euros (227,000 leva), after the proceedings ended with an effective judicial act on April 17, following a decision of the Supreme Court of Cassation, the press center of the commission announced.
The proceedings were initiated after a notification from the District Prosecutor's Office – Blagoevgrad for pre-trial proceedings against K.N., known by the nickname “Apple“, for a crime related to possession for the purpose of distribution of high-risk narcotic substances in particularly large quantities. The decision of the district court was confirmed by the next two instances, and it was ordered to confiscate in favor of the state two apartments in Sandanski; a passenger car; cash, including the equivalent of a sold motor vehicle; three cars owned by the person under investigation; as well as cash deposited in bank accounts.
BTA recalls that on January 28, the parliament finally adopted in second reading the bill amending the Law on the National Audit Office, which closes the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and transfers its functions to the General Directorate “Fight against Organized Crime“ (GDBOP) of the Ministry of Interior and the Court of Accounts.
