Daniel Smilov: Sarafov's resignation is an offer from GERB and MRF to Radev - 1

PP-DB is closest to Radev in terms of content, but a majority can also be achieved with GERB and MRF. I read Sarafov's resignation as an offer from the status quo to the new winner. That is, the tools that Borisov and Peevski had at their disposal can be transferred to Radev, but at a reasonable price. Arrangements will be made. This was said by political scientist Daniel Smilov in the studio of “Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov“

According to him, Rumen Radev has managed to win over two anti-corruption electorates, which are very different. “Some are more geopolitically oriented towards Europe, while the others are ambivalent. The result of “Progressive Bulgaria“ is an opportunity to push through anti-corruption reforms. With this majority, a "clean hands" operation can be carried out - to change the Constitution and reform the judicial system. This can be used for good purposes - removing the oligarchy and vicious models, but the large concentration of power also leads to abuse. Governance based on ambivalence cannot be implemented, even if Rumen Radev wins the elections in this way, "commented Smilov.

According to the political scientist, the leader of "Progressive Bulgaria" will seek balance within his formation, without trying to expand his majority with partners. "This is risky, because determining it in one direction or another can unbalance his party. The majority of "Progressive Bulgaria" is a prerequisite for a four-year mandate, but mistakes can be made - including in geopolitical terms, for example, self-isolation from European processes," he pointed out the political scientist.

Smilov believes that splitting the PP-DB coalition would be a mistake. “It has an important role in parliament, it may turn out to be the largest opposition force. There are some processes underway in GERB, Zhivko Todorov has already given up, and he is unlikely to be the only one. There is a need for an anti-corruption opposition that is pro-European and balances the large concentration of power in Rumen Radev's party,“ noted Smilov.
