Yes, Bulgaria proposes that the parties from the PP-DB coalition and others enter a single political entity - 1

"Yes, Bulgaria" proposes a roadmap towards a single political entity - one party, which would include the parties from the PP-DB coalition and beyond. This was announced by the co-chairman of the DB, Bozhidar Bojanov, on his Facebook profile.

He drew attention to the "violences" that the center-right democratic space in our country has gone through, recalling that "after 2001 it has been in a continuous cycle of swarming and subsequent coalition formation. And before that too - the UDF became a single entity only in 1997, before that it was a coalition. And there are even several UDFs".

"In Bulgaria, the "novelty" factor gives an electoral bonus, which stimulates the emergence of new entities in the same space. Even if often (although not always) they are formed by former members of one of the previous entities. But this is a one-time bonus, after which things return to the starting position", writes Bozhanov.

In his words, "the role of parties is to be a sustainable instrument for political representation. To ensure personnel replenishment, evolution of positions, stability of values and continuity of knowledge about political technology. So that hot water is not discovered every time, so that there is a permanent personnel bank of verified people, to reduce wandering along the political spectrum".

Bozhidar Bozhanov emphasizes that "in a single entity, of course, there are always trends, different opinions and internal democracy; disputes among politically engaged sympathizers why one is not a deputy and another is, why a vote was cast in a certain way, etc. - and this is normal when the entity is formed on the basis of common democratic values".

For this reason, the co-chair of the DB believes that his party's proposal to draw up a "road map towards a single political entity - one party that would include the parties from the coalition and parties outside it. And that this should be a long-term investment in an instrument of this political community that will be able to expand. Because you can only expand if you appear resilient and if you are not busy with "protecting the perimeter", he points out.

And he adds that "such a sign is even more important against the backdrop of the upcoming presidential elections, where for the first time in a long time we have a chance for a strong result".

According to Bozanov, the moment is also appropriate for another reason - "we are probably facing a long period in opposition, because in order for a government elected by an absolute parliamentary majority of one entity to fall, something very cardinal must happen. And during this period there is time to form and strengthen the unified entity, so that it is fully prepared for the next elections. Now is the time to think and act strategically, with a long horizon, leaving behind petty issues and narrow-party egos".
