As of today, poultry farmers can apply for financial assistance to implement voluntary commitments for humane treatment of birds. This year they will receive over 21 million euros.

The aid is provided annually to cover additional costs or foregone income related to the implementation of voluntary commitments undertaken for at least five years.

Its scope includes commitments to ensure a free floor area of no less than 10% above the mandatory standard, improving conditions for poultry transport, reducing ammonia emissions by 30%, and others.

The largest aid is for laying hens - nearly 103 euros per unit, the least funds are provided for ducks - 31 euros per unit.

The aid, for which each farmer can apply until May 15, must not exceed 100% of the eligible costs.
