The state budget for 2026 will be a cornerstone for "Progressive Bulgaria". If they don't handle it, they won't handle other things either. This was said in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio by Martin Dimitrov from "Continuing Change-Democratic Bulgaria" (PP-DB).
According to him, we can have a budget in July at the earliest.
"This budget is a key test for the government of Rumen Radev. The former president participated in many caretaker governments and they never optimized a budget, and this one for 2026 is exactly that. Because the deficit for 2025 was 3.5%. What the "Zhelyazkov" cabinet has indicated, is not true. And in order to return to a deficit below 3%, the budget must be reformist - to reduce spending, a task that Radev has never managed with his caretaker governments, "commented Dimitrov on the show "Something More", he said.
And he pointed out that he has never seen Rumen Radev reduce spending, in the face of his caretaker governments:
"And now this is the test. It is important not to raise taxes in any case, because when the international situation normalizes and the war in Iran ends, Bulgaria must return to high economic growth. Therefore, taxes should not be raised. And a good budget and many reforms are needed to be carried out in the middle of the year. This means planning these changes to be made in a short time," Dimitrov also said.
