We celebrate 150 years of the April Uprising. Traditionally, the culmination of the celebrations is in Koprivshtitsa, where the first shot against the Ottoman Empire rang out. Panagyurishte also becomes the center of the celebrations, and for several days the city gathers residents and guests with a rich program of processions, reenactments and solemn rituals, writes Nova TV.
On Friday, a reenactment of episodes from the April Uprising will be presented at the "April 20" square - the patriotic stage performance "April 1876 - the flame that does not go out". The festive program will continue with a concert performance by the "Bulgar" ensemble and a concert by singer Melek Eren.
In Panagyurishte, the program includes a procession starting from the Historical Museum, raising the national flag and a memorial service. The highlight of the celebrations in the city is the large historical reenactment at 3:00 p.m., in which about 200 patriots from 19 “Tradition” clubs from all over the country participate. The scenario of the reenactment recreates the events of 150 years ago based on the memories of contemporaries and eyewitnesses, including the moment when Raina Knyaginya rides a horse with the rebel flag she sewed.
The mayor of Panagyurishte, Zhelyazko Gagov, emphasized that the celebrations are an occasion for unity around the memory of the heroes, who were ordinary people who chose to accomplish great deeds.
