A significant warming is expected in the new week, when maximum temperatures in most of the country will be around and above 20°. Before that, however, both on Saturday and Sunday, it will remain much colder than usual for the beginning of May.
Today there will be areas with sub-zero minimum temperatures, mainly in the valleys in Western Bulgaria, where there will be conditions for frost. In most places, temperatures in the early morning will be between minus 1° and 4°, in Sofia – around 0°.
After the sunny start of the day, around and after noon, cloudiness over almost the entire country will increase and in many places there will be rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms. Maximum temperatures will be between 10° and 15°, in Sofia – around 12°. Moderate winds will blow, in Southeastern Bulgaria and along the Southern Black Sea Coast – temporarily strong northeasterly winds.
Strong winds also in the mountains. There will be precipitation there, as the boundary between snow and rain will drop to about 1200 meters from the north-northeast.
On Sunday morning, there will also be places with temperatures around and slightly below zero, where there will be a risk of frost, but maximum temperatures will slightly increase. It will remain windy, but precipitation will mainly occur in the eastern and mountainous regions, with short-term rain showers.
Sunny weather will prevail at the beginning of the new week. On Monday morning, there will also be temperatures around and slightly below zero and a risk of frost, but in the coming days, minimum temperatures will also increase. Maximum temperatures will also be higher.
