On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising in the historical area of Oborishte, above Panagyurishte, a national worship service in memory of the heroes of April 1876 will be held.
In front of the Apriltsi monument, where the names of the first Bulgarian deputies who decided to revolt are inscribed, a solemn prayer service will be held, writes the Bulgarian National Radio.
"Oborishte is the torch that lit the way to the resurrection of Bulgarian statehood. The first elected representatives to this day remain the purest in their people's work," says Zahari Stoyanov.
Today, the long forest road to this holy place is now called the Alley of Glory.
The fully renovated road from the exit of Panagyurishte to the foot of the memorial will be officially opened at 10 a.m.
The actual worship in front of the Apriltsi monument will be at 11 a.m.
After the solemn ceremony, visitors to Oborishte will be able to become part of the military-historical festival "Living History."
The program includes folklore performances, and in the evening - at 8 p.m. in Panagyurishte, residents and guests of the city will be able to watch the spectacle "Freedom is Not Silent," including a light show, music and dramatization.
