The rain from last night flooded houses in Apriltsi, one woman was evacuated and placed in social services, Lovech Regional Governor Plamen Hristov told BTA.

He added that the river levels in the region have risen significantly. The situation is most serious in the Apriltsi municipality, where Vidima and Ostreshka have reached critical levels and there is a danger of overflow. There is accumulated sediment and stones on the roads near the rivers.

According to the regional governor, teams from the Municipality are patrolling the low-lying areas along the two rivers and warning people about the danger of overflow. Fire and police teams are also on site, and additional teams are ready to be sent.

Hristov also reported that a bridge on the road between the Ugarchin villages of Orlyane and Dragana at the junction for the village of Katunets was flooded during the night.

The Cherni Osam River has overflowed its bed and flooded a street in the Troyan village of Oreshak, but no houses have been affected.

The situation in the Lovech region remains complicated and is being continuously monitored by the institutions, Plamen Hristov also said.

Due to the torrential rainfall in the past few hours, the Dryanovo Municipality has declared a partial state of emergency, NOVA reported.

The entire area of the "Lokomotiv" stadium is flooded. Access to the bridge to the stadium is limited. The bridge to the railway line and "Pop Hariton" is severely compromised.

A state of emergency has been declared for Veliko Tarnovo and the municipality due to the torrential rains

There is currently no need for evacuation, but if the rainfall intensifies over the next 24 hours, there is a risk of flooding of the lowest parts of the city and some of the small settlements.
