Lack of quorum thwarted the regular meeting of the Judicial College, at which the personnel officers were expected to discuss how the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union regarding the mandate of the Judicial Inspectorate relates to the activities of the Supreme Judicial Council itself, BNR reported.
On April 30, the Court in Luxembourg declared it inadmissible and threatening the independence of magistrates for judicial inspectors to work five years after the expiration of their constitutionally determined mandates.
According to lawyers, this decision should also be applied to judicial personnel officers, whose mandates expired two and a half years ago.
According to Atanaska Disheva, the lack of a quorum is not a solution to the problem and the College must discuss what powers it has, and whether, how and to what extent the decision of the court in Luxembourg affects the powers of the Supreme Judicial Council and in which parts.
