We witnessed another episode of the same series - creating a problem, solving a problem, but in a not very long-term and not very well-thought-out way. What is omitted to say throughout this entire circus show is what problem exactly these 15 million leva would solve for us. This was asked by the mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, after it became clear that the government of Rosen Zhelyazkov would allocate additional funds from the central budget to solve the transport crisis in the capital.
At a media briefing, Terziev emphasized that these 15 million leva are being allocated to solve “quickly” one problem, but without looking at the long-term prospects.
However, they are not saying that the municipality will have to find every single lev that is voted for an increase today next year, and the year after that, and the year after that. And once again we are witnessing how people do not think sustainably, the mayor added.
Vasil Terziev reminded that from his first day as mayor, the word “sustainability“ has become fundamental to his philosophy of governance.
“And when it comes to pay, what should we do to solve the specific problems we have, and not pour very expensive resources into places where we do not have a problem. Because in the end, everything comes from our taxes. Every single lev that has not gone to its intended purpose works against us. "On the other hand, they are acting populist and thoughtless, and without a clear answer as to where the money will come from," Terziev also said.
