Four teams of the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection" - Plovdiv brought under control a fire that broke out today near the Krumovo airport, Senior Commissioner Vasil Dimov, Director of the Plovdiv Fire Department, told BTA.
The incident was reported at around 1:40 p.m. The fire covered dry grass and stubble on an area of approximately 25 acres. Firefighting teams from the airport, as well as from the "KCM" AD enterprise, also participated in the extinguishing. The firefighting operations have now been completed.
The fire department reminds of the increased risk of fires in dry areas during the summer season and calls on citizens to be careful when handling open fire.
Yesterday morning, another fire was registered in a shoe warehouse in Plovdiv. Six firefighting teams and a fire ladder were sent to the scene to bring the flames under control.
