US President Donald Trump said that the construction of the White House ballroom will cost more than announced a year ago because it will be twice as large.
“Caitlin Collins asked me why the new ballroom cost more than originally estimated a year ago. I told her it would be twice as large“, he wrote in Truth Social.
The American leader noted that the ballroom will be finished to a high standard, as will the interior. He also said that construction is on budget and ahead of schedule.
In July, the Trump administration decided to build a $200 million ballroom at the White House. The new facility will be located near the East Wing, built in 1902. The ballroom will be 8,400 square meters and will be able to accommodate up to 650 people during events. Construction began in October and is expected to be completed before the end of Trump's second term in January 2029.
