A temporary suspension of construction and assembly activities has been introduced in the resorts near Varna, reports the official website of the municipality. The order, signed by Mayor Blagomir Kotsev, covers the areas of "Golden Sands", "St. Konstantin and Elena", "Seagull", "Surboy" and "Monastery Hill" and will remain in effect until October 1.
According to the instructions, the access of heavy construction equipment and vehicles carrying construction materials in these areas is also prohibited. However, the order allows exceptions for emergency repair work and geoprotection measures.
Continuation of construction works will be allowed only for projects of regional importance, financed with funds from the European Union, the state or municipal budget, located in the affected resort areas.
Sanctions for violation of the new rules range from BGN 1,000 to BGN 10,000 for individuals and BGN 10,000 to BGN 50,000 for companies and other legal entities, with the applicability of heavier penalties remaining possible in certain cases.
