A drunk and drugged driver caused a traffic accident with a police team in the Pazardzhik region, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.
No people were injured in the incident, only minor material damage. The incident took place last night during an attempt to conduct a police check on the road between the villages of Yundola and Yakoruda. The uniformed officers were near the junction for the village of Pashovi when they noticed a winding car. They followed it and gave a light and sound signal with the patrol car for its driver to stop. However, he did not obey and continued on his way. The police approached him, but the driver lost control and crashed into them sideways.
After the impact, the man did not stop again, but continued on his way. Only after a few hundred meters did the police manage to stop and detain him. Behind the wheel turned out to be a 41-year-old resident of the Yakorud village of Cherna Mesta.
A team of the “Traffic Police“ tested him with technical means, and his alcohol sample showed 2.34 per mille, and his drug sample also turned out to be positive.
The fugitive was detained in the Velingrad Regional Police Department for a period of 24 hours, and an investigation has been launched into the case, which is under the supervision of the Pazardzhik District Prosecutor's Office.
