The former deputy mayor of Sofia Nikola Barbutov will ask to be released from custody again. A hearing is scheduled for today at the Sofia City Court, Nova TV reports. He is accused of participating in a criminal group for bribery and official crimes, together with three others.
Barbutov has been in custody since the end of June, when he was detained and charged.
According to the prosecutor's office, the former deputy mayor exceeded his authority, as in conversations with the mayors of „Mladost“ and „Lyulin“ He told them that public procurement in the two regions should be prepared by his trusted experts so that they would be won by companies close to him.
