Permanent arrest ordered for 17-year-old Ukrainian accused of murder in Studentski Grad - 1

The Sofia City Court has ordered a measure of "detention in custody" against a 17-year-old Ukrainian citizen accused of murder, the court's press center announced.

The ruling is not final and is subject to appeal or protest before a higher court.

According to the reasoning of the court, there is a risk that he will abscond and commit a crime if a lighter measure is imposed on him. From the evidence collected so far, a reasonable assumption can be made that he committed the act for which he is accused, the court added.

According to the evidence collected, on November 22 in Studentski Grad, the accused, out of hooliganism, intentionally killed Y. K. by stabbing him with a knife in the left thigh, affecting large blood vessels and causing severe blood loss. The victim died on November 25, despite the timely and highly qualified medical care provided to him. On November 26, the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office detained the minor for up to 48 hours and brought him as a defendant, then filed a motion with the court for his permanent arrest.
