An 84-year-old man has been brought to court for aggravated robbery and causing moderate bodily harm to an elderly resident of the village of Gorna Krushitsa, the District Prosecutor's Office reported - Blagoevgrad.
According to the indictment, as of January 2025, G.G. lived in the village of Mikrevo, Sandanski Municipality, and took care of the minor A.V. On January 3, the two decided to visit B.G. in the village of Gorna Krushitsa. The accused knew that the man lived alone and supposedly had money.
At noon, they arrived in the village, where they met B.G. on the street. They followed him to his house and attacked him in the yard, punching him in the head and body, as well as with a wooden handle, while demanding money. The victim managed to escape into the house, but was caught and the beating continued. G.G. also hit him with a gas pistol.
To stop the violence, the victim gave the 35 leva he had, but the attackers did not stop the beating. The screams were heard by neighbors, who reported the incident. Police officers quickly arrived on the scene and detained G.G. and the minor in the victim's home.
According to the forensic medical examination, B.G. suffered multiple broken ribs, a head injury, and a concussion.
The pre-trial proceedings against G.G. ended with the filing of an indictment. The proceedings against the minor A.V. was terminated because an expert examination determined that he was in a state of insanity at the time of the act.
The court is yet to schedule a hearing on the case.
