A young woman was injured in an incident with an aggressive dog in the eastern district of Kazanlak. She has multiple bites on various parts of her body. Her pet was also injured, BNT reported.
The incident occurred during a morning walk. The victim, Elitsa Petkova, was walking her Jack Russell when she was suddenly attacked by a large dog that came out of a private property nearby. According to her, the animal was unattended and showed strong aggression, first attacking her dog, and then her when she tried to protect it.
The attack was stopped thanks to the quick intervention of a man who witnessed what was happening. He managed to chase away the aggressive animal, which retreated back.
As a result of the incident, the young woman received bites on her hands and face. Her pet was admitted to a veterinary clinic in serious condition, with profuse bleeding. After emergency surgery, his condition was stabilized.
The competent authorities have been notified of the case. The owner of the aggressive dog is yet to be identified and whether the animal was raised in compliance with safety requirements. After the inspection is completed, it will be assessed whether sanctions will be imposed and what measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
