The Sofia City Court (SCC) revoked the suspended sentence of Vasil Mihaylov, known as the "prosecutor's son" from Pernik, and imposed an effective sentence of one year and eight months in prison. The decision comes after an appeal of the initial verdict of the Sofia District Court, reported by "Focus Agency".
The case is for a threat of murder and physical violence against his former partner Boryana Rangelova, committed on October 28, 2022. The appeal panel, chaired by Judge Snezhina Koleva, accepted that the suspended sentence does not achieve the goals of the law and ordered Mihaylov to go behind bars under an effective regime.
On the incriminated night in the city of Pernik, the defendant made real threats to the woman's life, accompanied by blows to the face. The court is categorical that Mihaylov's words caused justified fear in the victim, which is supported by witness testimonies and expert reports.
Despite the decision of the Sofia City Court, the actual serving of the sentence remains in question. "We remind you that Mihaylov has been wanted since June 2025", the source points out. Then, a new report was filed against him for the beating and extortion of a 31-year-old man in the area of the "Golo Bardo" mountain.
At the moment, Vasil Mihaylov's whereabouts remain unknown, although he periodically publishes videos on the Internet mocking the efforts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to detain him. The current verdict is final in this case, but its effective implementation depends entirely on the capacity of the police to locate the convict.
