107 packages of marijuana worth over 370,000 euros were found by customs officers and border police at the "Kapitan Andreevo" border checkpoint during a joint inspection of a car leaving the country.
On March 4, 2026, at around 4:30 p.m., a car with a foreign registration arrived at the checkpoint. The driver, with dual Albanian and Serbian citizenship, was traveling alone from Serbia via Bulgaria to Turkey. The car was selected through operational analysis for a thorough customs inspection. During the control actions, in which customs officers and border police officers with a Pirin service dog took part, it was established that in the factory cavities in the floor and bumpers of the car, caches were built, in which a total of 107 packages containing dry green grass mass were hidden. During the field drug test, the substance in the packages reacted to marijuana. The seized quantity is a total of 45,760 kg gross weight worth 374,347.46 euros at prices for the needs of the judicial system.
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated in the case by an investigating customs inspector under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office - Haskovo.
