Children are now falling into the trap of the "hello scammers" - 1

Children are already falling into the trap of "hello scammers". The victims are chosen randomly, with criminals increasingly calling mobile phones and thus more easily reaching minors, bTV reports.

The day is Saturday afternoon. The 10-year-old boy and his mother are at home. His phone rings, and he picks up on speakerphone: "Do you know where mom and dad leave their money? - No. - How so? In their room, don't you know where the money is?“.

The fraudster says he is calling from "Civil Protection" and that his family is currently under threat. Rather, the family's property

"The fraudsters have been using the same schemes for years. They pose as police officers. Municipal employees, in this case from "Civil Protection", relatives and doctors. Their main goal is to create severe stress and provoke potential victims to act without checking the information“, commented Zlatka Padinkova, head of the "Fraud" sector at the General Directorate "National Police" (GDNP).

After realizing that it was a scam, the mother decided to record the conversation and tell her child how to respond.

„Listen to me carefully. These criminals want to take away mom and dad's money, which is currently in your home. I want you to remove it, insure it“, says the scammer.
Then he asks the child for money, instructs him where in the house to go and look for it.

During the conversation, the man asks the child where his parents work, what their names are, what his school is. At first, he tells the truth. That's why his mother decides to hide her face today.

After the scammer sees that he cannot get the desired information – the conversation ends: “Okay, hang up, B***, you'll be waiting for me to call you. Hang up“.

The parents file a report with the police. And the uniformed officers are working on the case.
