A real midnight action took place in the Karlovo village of Iganovo.
A man slashed the tires of 36 cars. On some of them, he used a knife to scratch the paint and bend the wipers. The man also set several street garbage containers on fire. He also damaged two electrical distribution boards and finally shot a woman in the village with an air rifle.
The mayor of the village of Iganovo, Pavel Pavlov, is one of the injured car owners. “I have damage to three cars. The tires are slashed in the same way. The act of vandalism was committed around 4-4:30 a.m. on Saturday night.
We realized there was a problem when we smelled smoke and saw the high flames from the burning plastic garbage containers,” he said.
At first he thought the vandalism was only on his street. “I called 112 and the police came. It turned out that the entire village had been affected. There were broken surveillance cameras that were installed in the settlement. There were also broken electric signs, which were probably 5-6 in number”, the mayor explained.
According to him, the tires of the cars were slashed with a knife. Marin Marinov also suffered slashed tires on two cars. ”I returned home at 2:30 a.m. Everything was normal. "And in the morning I saw that my tires were slashed," he explained.
The suspect has been detained for 72 hours. He is a 57-year-old local resident. "This man shot a woman and a man with an air rifle. He was warned some time ago because he breaks into houses. He was not aggressive before," Pavlov explained.
The police told NOVA that during a search of the home of the suspect in the vandalism, the knives used to slash the car tires were seized. A gas pistol and an air rifle were also found, which were not acquired in accordance with the established procedure.
Security camera recordings are also being reviewed, evidence and information are being collected, and pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case at the District Prosecutor's Office.
