On April 25, the popular Scottish rock singer Fish celebrates his birthday.

Derek William Dick, as the musician's real name is, was born on April 25, 1958 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

He is best known as the frontman and lead vocalist of the progressive rock band Marillion from 1981 to 1988, with whom he achieved worldwide success with hits such as “Kayleigh“ and “Lavender“.

His voice and presence defined the “neo-progressive rock“ genre in the 1980s. Together with the group, they released four studio albums, including the cult Misplaced Childhood.

After leaving the group in 1988, Fish launched a successful solo career, in which he experimented with rock, pop and folk elements.

In 2024 and 2025, the musician held his last tour, called “Road To The Isles“, with which he planned to end his concert activities and retire from the music scene.

The name “Fish“ comes from the fact that in his youth he liked to spend a lot of time in the bathtub.

Fish has given memorable concerts in Bulgaria, including at the Ancient Theater in Plovdiv.

In addition to being a musician, he is also an actor with appearances in various television productions and films. He is currently planning to devote himself to writing.
