Russia's first anthropomorphic /humanoid/ robot with artificial intelligence, Aidol, lost its balance and fell during a presentation in Moscow, and the event was interrupted, TASS reported.
Aidol slowly walked onto the stage, accompanied by two people, and tried to wave, but tipped over and fell. The staff covered the robot with a black cloth and took it out of the hall.
“I hope this mistake will become a learning experience“, said Vladimir Vitukhin, the developer's CEO.
The Coalition for New Technologies previously said that the robot is capable of meaningful and purposeful communication, expressing emotions, and defined this as “the key difference between Aidol and other global solutions“. To achieve this, it has a “face“, flexible arms, 19 servomotors supporting at least 12 basic emotions, as well as “hundreds“ of microexpressions.
The developers envisage Aidol's participation in industrial and service activities - for example, in manufacturing, logistics and public spaces such as banks, airports and the like.
