Yuliana Yaneva and Magomed Ramazanov were announced as athletes No. 1 in wrestling, respectively, for women and men, at a ceremony in the "Diana" hall.
This season, Yaneva became second in the world among women. And Ramazanov won the European title.
Juliana's runners-up in the women's category were Bilyana Dudova, who became third in Europe this year and fifth in the world, and Andrea Niseva, third at the European Cadet Championship, was third.
Yaneva also received a check for 75,000 from "Asset Insurance", one of the federation's sponsors.
Ramazanov missed the ceremony because he is recovering from surgery.
In the men's category, Georgi Ivanov, European U23 champion, is in second place, while Andriyan Valkanov and Kaloyan Atanasov, both third at the European Junior Championship, shared third place.
For the first time in a long time, the ranking was divided into men and women; until now, the federation had announced the top 10 athletes regardless of gender.
Seraphim was named best coach Barzakov, and for the best judge - Ivo Yotov.
The ceremony also awarded 7 of our talented young competitors who this year achieved distinctions at European championships for cadets and boys. Namely, Stanislav Ivanov became European champion, Denis Lazarov and Emre Myunyumov took silver, and Radoslav Velikov, Hristo Chelibiyski, Denitsa Petrova and Veronika Stoilova took bronze.
During the ceremony, a congratulatory address was read by the Minister of Sports Ivan Peshev, who wished success to Bulgarian wrestling in the coming 2026.
"It was a very difficult year, but I hope we will come to our senses and find a direction", said Stanka Zlateva, chairwoman of the federation. - Overall, it is good that we have children who won medals at world and European championships. We have talents and we have people with whom we can work. This was our platform and we want Bulgarian sport to move forward. Things are developing well. The hall is becoming a world center, with which we will have foreign partners with whom we can grow. Given what was at the beginning, in my opinion we are sending off a fruitful year."
The president of the federation said that Bulgarian wrestlers will begin training on January 4 next year, CSKA competitors will be invited again. She added that she hopes they understand that in sports a lost year can be disastrous.
"Absolutely all medalists - from European and world championships, republican will be invited to the camp. If they want, let them order. Nobody chased them. If not, that is their decision and they can answer. We have invited them many times and they have refused. We will make the same gesture again and the decision will be theirs. They are big boys and they realize what is at stake. Yes, they have respect for Mr. Grisha Ganchev (financial benefactor of CSKA and former president of the federation - author's note), but sport is temporary and a lost year costs them a lot, not me."
