PAOK defeated the second division team Marko of "Toumba" 4:1 in a match from the fifth round of the Greek Cup, reported sportal.bg.
However, this result turned out to be insufficient, since with it the "eagles" failed to displace Volos from seventh place in the competition standings, thus avoiding a match with Olympiacos in the 1/4 finals. They will face the leader of the Super League, but before that they have to play Atromitos in a playoff match.
Bulgaria's captain Kiril Despodov was the starter and was only substituted in the added time of the match.
PAOK played well in the first half and everything went according to plan for the hosts. In the 17th minute, Ioannis Constantelias opened the scoring. Taylor's cross was initially cleared by Safarikas, but then the 22-year-old striker scored from close range.
PAOK's lead was doubled in the 26th minute. Ozdoev's cross from the left was deflected and reached Anestis Mitou, who made it 2-0 with a nice shot. In the 37th minute, Constantelias scored for the second time, after he mastered a pass from Ozdoev on the right and shot accurately for 3:0.
PAOK needed another goal, but never managed to achieve it, and the hosts also started the second half more sluggishly. Moreover, in the 84th minute, the guests got one goal back after a blunder by Tsiftsis, who passed directly to Ivan Muller and the ball ended up in his goal.
In the 87th minute, Despodov had a good chance, but Safarikas saved. Three minutes later, Madi Kamara, who appeared as a substitute, shaped the final score with a nice shot from the edge of the penalty area.
