The mayor of Sofia - Vasil Terziev, who participated in the charity tournament in support of Lyuboslav Penev, did not ignore the topic of the "Georgi Asparuhov" stadium. He expressed hope that the project will be implemented in the coming years, although there is currently no development around "Gerena", Sportal.bg reported.
"There is currently no development on the "Georgi Asparuhov" stadium. This is an important project that I believe will be implemented in the coming years. We are in contact with the management of Levski, but there is simply no development at the moment.
The construction of a large and modern facility is not an easy process. We are looking for the optimal option. Great sport does not happen without investments from the state, municipalities and clubs. This is a long-term effort," said Terziev.
Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev joined the charity tournament in support of Lyuboslav Penev. The legendary former national team player is battling cancer and is currently in a clinic in Germany, where he is receiving treatment.
"I want everyone to wish Lyubo Penev a speedy recovery and that he will be among us again. The organizers invited me. I am here as an ordinary football player and friend, not as a mayor," said Terziev.
"I am extremely happy that there are so many teams. I will be happy to have a good tournament for our friend. Whenever we are on the field, it is very pleasant. With such legends, the feeling is even more special," the mayor of the capital also shared, BNT reported.
