Rosen Kirilov is of the opinion that the Bulgarian national football team will improve under the leadership of Alexander Dimitrov. The former coach of Krumovgrad believes that the battle for the title in the First League in the spring season will be interesting and Ludogorets will look different.
On the air of “Arena Sport“ on BNT, Kirilov also touched on the topic related to the coaching work of Hristo Yanev in CSKA and Julio Velasquez in Levski.
He commented on the result of Ludogorets' loss against Glasgow Rangers in the Europa League.
“Ludogorets' performance was very good against a team like Rangers. I think the guests played a very good game and had the opportunity to score a goal. They had 2.3 100 percent chances to score, but unfortunately they lost. They have a tough game ahead of them against Nice, but they will have a chance. The French are a team that can be beaten. If they manage to win, then they have to hope for a good combination of circumstances. Naturally, Ludogorets is losing strength in the First League when participating in European club tournaments. This was seen in the first half of the season in many matches of the Bulgarian championship, which they did not play at a high level and lost a lot of points. I think that things will be much different in the spring half of the season. The battle for the championship title in the championship will be quite interesting“, were his first words.
The coach also shared his impressions of Julio Velasquez's work at the helm of Levski, as well as whether the “blues“ will be able to maintain their lead at the top of the domestic elite standings.
„In my opinion, Levski can maintain its lead, the team showed an impressive performance in the first half of the season with its play. It deserves to lead by 7 points ahead of Ludogorets and CSKA 1948. Julio Velasquez is doing a great job and the results are visible.“
The coach was laconic regarding the words of Daniel Borimirov, who said that he expects a lot of blows below the waist for the capital team during the spring part of the championship.
„I don't know how to interpret these words. I think everything is in Levski's hands. If they manage to maintain the level they have shown since the first half of the season and do not lose points in the mandatory matches against lower-ranked teams, those with direct competitors will be important for them to maintain their lead and become champions“, the coach shared regarding the statement made by the executive director of the capital team.
„CSKA 1948 also shows a very good level, it is no coincidence that the team is in second place in the standings and has equal assets with Ludogorets. The Bistritsa team also has its chance, but I think that CSKA is also gaining momentum and will be the main contender for third place at this stage“, he also said.
The former football player also praised the work of Hristo Yanev as the head coach of the “army“.
„Yanev's main contribution to CSKA's progress is in the psychological aspect. He managed to get under the skin of the players and the results are visible.“
“Whenever we have had strong giants, the national team was built by Levski and CSKA players, which made it even stronger. Aleksandar Dimitrov is a good coach and a good friend of mine. I think his work is quite good and there will be improvement. I hope and wish him well“, the coach noted.
He did not miss talking about what lies ahead for the Bulgarian national football team and the Fifa Series 2026 controls in Indonesia.
