The leadership of the Bulgarian Football Union offered its most sincere condolences to the relatives and family of the legendary Borislav Mihaylov, who left this world earlier today at the age of 63.
The great goalkeeper is the longest-serving president of the home club - from 2005 to 2019 and from 2021 to 2023.
Here's what the BFU wrote:
"The Bulgarian Football Union announces with deep sadness the passing of the legend of Bulgarian football and long-time president of the club – Borislav Mihaylov.
As a goalkeeper for the Bulgarian national team, Mihaylov played over 100 games for the national team and was an integral part of the golden generation that reached fourth place at the 1994 World Cup in the USA - the greatest success in the history of Bulgarian football.
After the end of his competitive career, he devoted his efforts to the development and management of football in our country. In the period 2005 - 2023, Borislav Mihaylov held the position of president of the Bulgarian Football Union, working for nearly two decades to promote Bulgarian football both nationally and internationally. As a member of the UEFA Executive Committee, he represented Bulgaria in the highest football institutions.
