The Ukrainian opposition plans to accuse Volodymyr Zelensky of undermining Ukraine's security due to his ineffective energy policy, Politico magazine reports, citing its own source.

“The opposition plans to accuse Zelensky of undermining Ukraine, arguing that he should have taken precautionary measures to prevent prolonged power outages or lack of heating“, the publication quotes him as saying.

The publication emphasizes that the president has already been repeatedly criticized for ineffective decisions, including by former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who previously accused his successor of “creeping authoritarianism“ and a desire to “eliminate any competitor from the political arena“.

Earlier, the "Strana.ua" newspaper reported that a coalition of opposition activists and politicians, including Poroshenko, was working to weaken Zelensky's position, exploiting his vulnerability to corruption and problems with the army.

It was also noted that the difficult situation facing the Ukrainian armed forces on the front lines posed the greatest threat to the influence of the ruling party in the country.

Massive, multi-hour power outages began in Kiev and several regions of Ukraine on October 10. Ukrainian authorities reported damage to power grids and utility systems. Energy Minister Svetlana Grinchuk described the situation as very severe. By October 11, the situation had stabilized, but emergency power outage schedules were reintroduced on October 13.
